French Society of Occupational Hygienists (SOciete Française des HYgiénistes du Travail)
This site in French is dedicated to Occupational Hygiene:
Occupational hygiene is the discipline of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling health hazards in the working environment with the objectives of protecting worker health and well-being and safeguarding the community at large.
Health risks include hazardous agents from workplaces such as chemical, physical and biological risks and human factors (Ergonomics)
The main objectives of the SOFHYT, (From bylaws) is to be the association for occupational hygienists working together for :
- Promoting and developing
- Occupational hygiene
- Professional ethics
- Workgroups within the society and with institutes and other associations
Promoting and accrediting
Education programs in occupational hygiene
Developing cooperation with other associations dedicated to occupational hygiene, safety and industrial environment
Representing its members in national and international events
Encourage research and studies in occupational hygiene and participating to normalization in this area
Being a partner of the French administration”
SOFHYT was created in June 1991: the first members were practitioners (hygienists, toxicologists, Safety managers, occupational physicians…. from industry and French institutes (INRS, INERIS, universities…)
SOFHYT is member of IOHA (International Occupational Hygiene Association) since 1991
SOFHYT and Cnam-IHIE developed an education program (occupational hygiene and industrial environment)
Recently, SOFHYT obtained the accreditation from IOHA for the professional certification. (Dec 2009)
The last major step is the opening of our internet site (July 2010)
